We spent years consulting to the country's largest banks, telcos and energy companies, then left to build our own startup. From outside those walls one thing was obvious: almost none of the elapsed time on those programmes was spent building anything.
Remember when the partner who sold you the work was the one who actually did it — and cared how it turned out? Somewhere that became a pyramid: a ladder to climb, a bench to keep busy, and your job as the training ground. We went back the other way. No hierarchy, no bench, nobody learning on your job.
